Acktar™ coats all types of opto-mechanical parts submitted by customers and also undertakes build-to-print manufacturing of the parts and assembly after coating. Acktar™ black coatings provide low reflectance, high thermal stability, high absorptance, high emissivity, excellent adhesion to essentially all materials and low outgassing in a few microns of a coating.

Acktar™ has been active since 1993, providing black coatings for applications ranging from satellite optics and endoscopes to automotive IR cameras and smartphones.

These coating services and solutions have been extensively tested and qualified for space applications, and have been applied in a variety of missions such as:

  • ESA/ NASA James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) – NIRSpec
  • ESA Bepi Colombo
  • Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) satellites
  • EnMAP-FSSA satellite
