Summary

Zaitra is a Czech-based software company providing intelligence for space missions, with a strong focus on activities improving satellite data analyses directly in space by edge device intelligence integrated into satellites.

Zaitra's dynamic team driven by innovation combines knowledge from two different fields - computer science and space engineering. The technology Zaitra is developing is based on state-of-the-art processing algorithms (based on AI), which allow the processing of high volumes of data generated on-board of satellites while reducing latency and minimizing downlink-related costs. This is essential for many space applications, as the amount of data generated during EO missions tends to be much higher than what is possible to transfer to the ground stations during limited and costly communication.

The company is delivering solutions to several ESA projects, including Biomission 2019, which aims to study the effects of microgravity on biological systems on ISS; and SLAVIA, a mission of two 16U CubeSats, where Zaitra contributes with on-board data processing that filters data of interest from payloads in orbit. In 2022, Zaitra participated in the VZLUSAT-2 demonstration mission. The experiment was successfully tested and demonstrated, and Zaitra proved that its technology can effectively process data in space environments. The company has also demonstrated the ability to deploy and perform AI-based onboard data processing tasks in space. Currently, Zaitra is actively engaged in the development and deployment of onboard cloud screening and object detection solutions for the mission TROLL, and other missions scheduled for 2024.
