Summary

SteamJet Space Systems designs and manufactures water-powered propulsion systems for CubeSats and Small Satellites. The company’s proprietary steam generation technology allows to achieve performance comparable to chemical propulsion systems, with high thrust, low power consumption and high specific impulse, but without the risks and costs associated with chemical propellants. With a very compact and customisable design, SteamJet’s propulsion systems are an optimal choice for most of Low Earth Orbit missions.

Typical use cases include:

  • orbit adjustments
  • constellation management
  • collision avoidance
  • de-orbiting

SteamJet’s technology reached flight heritage in 2023, with 3 Steam Thruster One propulsion systems successfully tested in space, with a 100% success rate.

SteamJet Space Systems LTD was founded in September 2017 by a team of experienced aerospace engineers and tech entrepreneurs. Since its creation, the company was awarded several grants from the UK Space Agency, the Sprint Programme and the ERDF to develop its technology. SteamJet was also selected by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) to be part of their first Payload Hosting Initiative.
